The Forecourt Trader Awards 2018 took place on Thursday 13th September at the London Hilton on Park Lane. The fabulous ‘Moulin Rouge’ themed event was hosted by Kimberley Walsh and a wonderful night was had by all who attended. This is an annual event attended by all the frontrunners of the UK petrol retailing industry and was made extra special this year as our very own Managing Director, David Penny, was presented with the Gulf Special Recognition Award. This award honours the people who are passionate about and have made a real and lasting contribution to the Forecourt industry making David a well-deserved recipient.

David and Louise Penny purchased their first petrol forecourt in Powburn, Northumberland back in 1994 and now, after trading for over 25 years, have 48 sites across the north of England and Scotland. The last 5 years have seen Penny Petroleum more than double in size to become the eighth largest independent petrol forecourt operator in the country, employing more than 400 employees and working with a range of premium partners including all major fuel brands, Booker and Spar. As founder and Managing Director, David’s aim is to make Penny Petroleum a great place to shop, work and do business with. David said, “We recognise that we are never the finished article so, as we grow, we evolve. As we acquire new sites, develop the existing ones and explore new partnerships, we continually look at new ways to improve our customer experience.”
